4x4Him Bakersfield was launched in 2010 as an extension of the original 4x4HIM.org. The 4x4Him Bakersfield group is open to anyone, whether they own a Jeep or a 4wd vehicle. In fact, many of our members are involved just as much for the Christian fellowship as they are for the off-roading experience.
Although the group is well-established, we aren’t an official club. Therefore, as a group, we don’t have a direct connection to larger Off Roading organizations, but many of our experienced members do. Because of our members associated with organizations like Cal4Wheel and CORVA, our group backs the efforts of these organizations.
A More Casual Experience
If you’re looking for a more casual experience in a Jeep or 4wd club, 4x4Him Bakersfield is an excellent option. We host a meet and greet on the last Thursday of every month. Also throughout the month, we have events, get-togethers, rides and a Bible Study. Everyone is welcome, even those who don’t own a 4wd vehicle. In fact, this is a great way to have fun with the entire 4x4Him Bakersfield family!
Check out our Facebook Activity page for upcoming events and rides.
Rides for all Levels
We have rides for all levels. Several times a year we try to schedule a ride for new wheelers. Twice a year we schedule weekend-long trips giving our “Rock Crawlers” or Experienced Members some extreme obstacles to climb over. When we have an event for beginners, our experienced club members help spot people over the obstacles and give pointers.
Patients and a servant’s heart allows everyone to learn and drive off encouraged and ready to come back for more fun. It’s great seeing everyone develop their skills and bring new people to the sport.
The Great Outdoors
We started 4x4Him Bakersfield in hopes of surrounding ourselves with like-minded people who love the Lord and enjoy the outdoors. Some of the most beautiful areas of the country are within driving distance of Bakersfield.
We support the environmental rules and adhere to the guidelines set forth by Tread Lightly.

Tread Lightly – RIDE ON California is a statewide campaign designed to help protect off roading opportunities and empower riders through education and stewardship.
Giving Back
At 4x4Him Bakersfield, we’re all about giving back to the
community. This is why we participate in numerous events throughout the year, from cooking and serving Thanksgiving meals with The House of Ruth Church in Bakersfield, CA to distributing donations of kids’ school supplies and Christmas toys. We’ve even taken a group of Veterans out on a ride, showing them a good time. Our club members decorate their rigs and hand out candy for Trunk or Treat on Halloween.
Our group also participates with 4x 4Him Christian Wheelers out of Fresno, CA, when they take at risk youth from Valley Teen Ranch (VTR) on rides. The young men we take wheeling from VTR are in a precarious position. They are teetering on making the choice which may change their lives.
James Cook 4x4Him Bakersfield founder
James Cook states, “We are simply a group of people: It’s not the club or name that makes us who we are, it’s the people who choose to be a part of it.” He also says, “I love to see the connections and friendships formed with people who meet at a 4X4Him event or meet and greet. I love watching people grow and maybe overcome some shyness. I have really made lasting connections with new folks so they feel welcome.”
Melinda Perez commented, “Our family joined because we wanted to surround ourselves with positive influences, not only for ourselves but for our kids. They see the fellowship, and the 4×4 fun, and how a group of complete strangers who share the same faith in God come together as a family to help others.”
